Forensic Interview

Legally sound, non-leading and neutral interview conducted by a highly trained interviewer with knowledge of the child’s developmental and emotional stage.  We provide the ability for the MDT to observe the interview and communicate with the interviewer.  This approach dramatically reduces the number of times the child has to tell his or her story therefore reducing the trauma to the child.

Mental Health/Therapy

We provide crisis counseling services as well as ongoing therapy to victims of child sexual abuse and their non-offending family members.

Family Advocacy/Victim Support

We provide crisis intervention and support to the child and non-offending family members.  This includes client education, victim’s rights information and referral to local services is needed.

We utilize Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) through Lakeland Healthcare who are trained in medical examination and evaluation of sexual assault victims. They are knowledgeable in how to interact with assault victims to collect evidence while preserving body integrity.

MDT Approach

We use a multidisciplinary team response for child abuse allegations which includes representation from the following: Child Protective Services, Law Enforcement, Prosecutor’s Office, Mental Health, Family Advocacy and Medical.

Prevention Services and Training

We off adult focused prevention training to educate adults on how to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse.  Darkness to Light/Stewards of Children is designed for organizations and individuals that serve youth or those who simply care about children.  The program recognizes that adults are responsible for the safety of children.
